Website unavailable - customers on ns1.internic-backbone.org

Urgent note to customers using the ns1.internic-backbone.org nameserver and possibly ns1.interservers.com also.

It has come to our attention that the previous outsourced management company Interservers Technology INC may be experiencing issues with their hosting and or nameserver service as customers are reporting websites not being available who are using one of these nameservers.

Please note that as per previous communications on this subject, Internic has no further involvement with Interservers Technology INC and the fact that ns1.internic-backbone.org has the Internic name in it is purely historical. This domain and the ns1.interservers.com domain are under the full control of Interservers and not ourselves and Interservers have refused to hand us control of this key asset, hence we are unable to monitor or maintain this in any way. Any domain other than ns1.internic.co.uk and ns2.internic.co.uk is not associated with our service and so if you are experiencing issues with your service, you should follow one of these two options.

1. Contact Interservers to ask when they are going to resolve the situation. This is unlikely to result in any action on their part as this recent failure is most likely to be another attempt by them to disrupt our legitimate UK domain business ... or it may be a genuine problem at their end but either way, it is unfortunately out of our control. The latest contact details we have for them can be found here.

2. log into your Internic control panel and change the current nameserver information (ns1.internic-backbone.org) to that of your actual host. Again the reason why this is pointing to the Internic-backbone.org nameserver is purely historic and was setup by them when they managed the Internic business for its Management Team and no longer has any validity. If you are actually still hosted with Interservers this option will not be available to you and you will need to make contact with them directly.

Note: if you need to point your domain to an IP address you will need to order the FREE Advanced DNS Service which will give you this functionality. See below on how to order this along with a FREE complimentary hosting plan.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may be causing you but as you can see, this is totally out of our control. This is an ideal opportunity to remind you that we offer a FREE like for like hosting plan to those Interservers hosting customers who want to move their hosting back to Internic. This can be ordered quite easily from within your Internic Control Panel and by going to ‘support centre’ then ‘order’ and you can see the options from there.

Regards,

Internic Support
